Chris Stearn
Chris Stearn studied at the Guildhall
School of Music and Drama with Denis Wick and
Peter Gane. He joined the Orchestra of
Scottish Opera as principal
bass/contrabass trombonist in 1984. In 1991 he was appointed professor of bass trombone at
the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and
Drama. Chris has worked with orchestras, big bands and brass groups throughout the UK
and Europe and is a soloist and clinician for Michael
Rath Trombones, as well as helping in the design of mouthpieces and trombones for that
company. He is committed to the creation of new music for bass trombone, and both commissions
and composes for the instrument.
